Flip Video camcorder (audio problem)?

True video camcorder microphones work good to about the 4 foot mark in a noisy environment, 6 feet in a quiet one. The flip is a useless camcorder, so I imagine the mini Mic on those cameras would only work to about 3 feet in a normal noise environment. No mic port, lots of editing, spend some cash and get a Digital Recorder, hook mics into it for better audio in your videos.
