Unfortunately you live with your parents so you have to live under their rules. It was wrong of them to go through your phone but they did it anyway. I think you handled the situation correctly and that is to just try to make peace. Once you get your own place you can do as you please regardless of whether your parents like it or not. My parents never did that sort of thing to me as far as I know.
